The VAPA Foundation believes that an education infused with the arts transforms the lives of young people. Read on to learn about the work we do to connect students in the San Diego Unified School District with VAPA -- visual and performing arts.
The Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Foundation held its second annual Spotlight gala, Beyond Brilliance … Spotlight on Dynamic Young Artists, virtually on April 18, at 6 p.m. The recorded gala can now be viewed on Vimeo.
The VAPA Foundation provides funding for enhanced arts education for all students at SDUSD schools, specifically projects and materials that are outside of a school's budget. Proceeds from the benefit will support enhanced arts education programs for all students at SDUSD schools.
“The VAPA Foundation touches the lives of thousands of students, teachers, parents, community members, and stakeholders,” said Doreen Schonbrun, president of the VAPA Foundation and co-chair of the gala. “The organization’s enhancement program connects teachers with artists, professional development programs, and materials that up the arts quotient in classrooms throughout the district. The learning potential for students exposed to the visual performing arts is extraordinary. With San Diego Unified schools currently being closed, the need for arts education and funding is greater than ever.”
