Announcing the VAPA Foundation’s New Arts Access Program!

The VAPA Foundation is thrilled to introduce Arts Access, a bold new program designed to transform arts education in San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD). As we sunset the VAPA Enhancement Program (VEP), we’re launching Arts Access to address the evolving needs of our students and schools with a fresh, data-informed approach.

Arts Access will launch in the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year, with 10 pilot schools across SDUSD. This groundbreaking program is designed to fill the gaps in public arts education in a meaningful and intentional way. By analyzing data from the district, we can clearly see which schools are lacking arts programs and work directly with them to curate a tailored solution, meeting each school’s unique needs. This targeted approach ensures that our resources have the greatest impact, providing students across San Diego with opportunities to explore the arts regardless of their location or background.

With Arts Access, our team will partner with educators and community members to bring customized arts experiences—from music and dance to visual arts and theater—directly into the classroom, creating enriching programs that celebrate each school’s diversity and culture. Our goal is to ensure equitable access to the arts, offering students a well-rounded education that includes creativity, self-expression, and innovation.

The launch of Arts Access marks an exciting new chapter for the VAPA Foundation as we work to expand arts education for students across the district. Join us in making this vision a reality! Together, we’re building a future where the arts are accessible to every child.

Stay tuned for more details on how you can support and get involved in this transformative program!
