Dana Archer, First Grade Teacher at Jefferson Elementary School

“I saw a palpable lack of dance programming in K-5 classrooms, and wanted to work with The Rosin Box Project to bring dance with an arts integration twist to my students and the students of my colleagues. We all wanted to use these funds to expose students to dance at its highest caliber available in the San Diego region.”

– The ballet machine is The Rosin Box Project’s response to the need for arts integrated dance programming in San Diego. In each one hour session, classrooms work with professional ballet dancers and teaching artists to learn dance steps, action words (verbs), and then build and construct their own dances (complex sentences) at the end of the session. Early language learning was identified by several teachers across San Diego County as some thing that could be aided by dance, and The Rosin Box Project is beyond excited to put on our pointe shoes and get kids moving and thinking about learning in a new, exciting way!
