This summer 2025, VAPA Foundation is pleased to be offering Multi-Arts Summer Camps for grades 7-8 at select SDUSD Middle School sites! We are partnering with SDUSD and a number of fabulous community arts organizations to provide students a sampler of diverse and high-quality arts experiences!
Acting, painting, singing, dancing, guitar/ukulele, and fiber stitching classes are available this June for students grades 7-8 who would like to get a taste of a new craft they’ve never tried before, or build on existing skills and make new connections. These free summer camps will be held at Bell MS, Challenger MS, Wilson MS and CPMA! See below for details.
Bell Middle School

Exploration into Acting, Dancing and Singing
About this Camp:
This 1-week camp runs from June 9 to June 13, 9:00am-12:00pm.
Unleash your inner-performer in this high-energy class that blends singing, dancing, and acting. Perfect for young stars ready to shine on the stage! This class will be led by teaching artists from Cygnet Theatre. Students will be building on what they’ve learned each day of camp. This camp is intended for students to attend all five consecutive days.
- Ukulele, Guitar, and Creativity Camp (Beginner Level)
About this Camp:
This 1-week camp runs from June 9 to June 13, 9:00am-12:00pm.
Anyone wanting to learn to play these amazing instruments will have a special opportunity during this camp! While learning any instrument takes time and practice, you will get a very positive start on both instruments! This class will be led by teaching artists from Guitars and Ukes in the Classroom.Students will be building on what they’ve learned each day of camp. This camp is intended for students to attend all five consecutive days.
- Artistic Explorations Club and SPARK Fiber Art
About this Camp:
This 1-week camp runs from June 9 to June 13, 9:00am-12:00pm.
This is a sampler course where each day, students will get to try out a variety of new art forms! Half of each instructional day will be Artistic Explorations Club, led by teaching artists from Rainforest Art Project! The other half of the day will be SPARK Fiber Art, an innovative fiber-based art class hosted by ArtReach.
- Ukulele, Guitar, and Creativity Camp (Continuing Player Level)
About this Camp:
This 1-week camp runs from June 23 to June 27, 9:00am-12:00pm.
If you can play guitar or ukulele, even just a couple of chords, this camp is for you! Whether you know a little or even a lot, there’s room here for everyone. Your kind, experienced teacher will teach songs, chords, bass lines, scales, and riffs to enrich your playing, and you will be able to jam, and play complementary musical parts together. Students will be building on what they’ve learned each day of camp. This camp is intended for students to attend all five consecutive days.
- Mosaic Makers Lab
About this Camp:
This 1-week camp runs from June 23 to June 27, 9:00am-12:00pm.
Within just one week you’ll learn the foundational skills required to build an extremely long-lasting mosaic artwork that will survive any harsh weather conditions. Working alongside experienced public art professionals, each student will create a unique individual piece -a Stepping Stone mosaic.Students will be building on what they’ve learned each day of camp. This camp is intended for students to attend all five consecutive days.
- Dance Sampler and Photo Transformations
About this Camp:
This 1-week camp runs from June 23 to June 27, 9:00am-12:00pm.
This is a sampler course where each day, students will get to try out a variety of new art forms! Half of each instructional day will be movement-based workshop Dance Sampler, led by teaching artists from Malashock Dance! The other half of the day will be Photo Transformations, an innovative photo editing and manipulation art class hosted by Outside the Lens.

- You Are Here / Usted Está Aquí (Dance/Movement Camp)
About this Camp:
This 1-week camp runs from June 9 to June 13, 9:00am-12:00pm.
“You Are Here/Usted Está Aquí” is a dance & storytelling workshop in which students will interview each other about the places that they live and communities they belong to, learn to edit sound files to create a soundtrack, and create a dance that embodies the soundtrack they create. This camp will be led by teaching artists from Malashock Dance.Students will be building on what they’ve learned each day of camp. This camp is intended for students to attend all five consecutive days.

About this Camp:
This 20-day camp runs from June 4 to July 3, daily from 8:00am-2:00pm. There will be no camp June 19 & 20.
Students completing grade 6, 7, and 8 will choose 3 classes from a list of 15+ arts options where they will learn new skills, continue developing skills, and prepare for a final showcase. Choose from Concert Band, String Orchestra, Mariachi, Jazz Band, Rock Band, Guitar, Ukulele, Drums, Chamber Music, Drawing and Painting, Ceramics, Musical Theatre, Technical Theatre, Theatre Improv, House Dance, Tik Tok Dance Challenge, and more…
