This season marked our fifth year of Summer Sights and Sounds at Wilson Middle School.
We had record participation of 238 middle schoolers who spent four full weeks diving into music, visual art, dance, and theatre. That’s double our student enrollment and participation from last year! As our summer camp in City Heights has significantly grown year after year, we’re learning that our students are hungry for meaningful, creative learning opportunities all year long.

Students Build their Dream Arts Camp Schedule
Wilson Summer Sights and Sounds is a unique summer camp model designed after the intensive arts school experience. Students chose a “major” and a “minor” from over 15 arts options, allowing them to explore something new or go deeper into something they love. It’s a model that encourages in-depth skill-building, confidence, and self-expression.
This summer’s classes included:
• Concert Band • String Orchestra • Mariachi • Jazz Band • Rock Band • Guitar • Ukulele • Drums Chamber Music • Drawing & Painting • Ceramics • Musical Theatre • Technical Theatre • Improv • House Dance… and more!

What’s Summer Camp without S’mores?
One of the many aspects that makes Wilson Summer Sights and Sounds special is the extra length our staff goes to make our program more than just an extension of the school year. Our Fun Friday activities were a key part of this fun, lighthearted summer feeling on campus. At the end of every week, we celebrated with s’mores, water balloon tosses, obstacle courses, karaoke, crafts, and slime-making. These moments helped students connect with each other, let loose, and soak up some good old fashioned outdoor fun this summer.
